Belgium has a lot to offer when it comes to hydrogen, despite its territory of only 30.528 km2., it has an extensive hydrogen and ammonia ecosystem, building on its ports, pipelines,import infrastructure and large industrial users.
Additionally, several Belgian companies are using their expertise for developing large scale hydrogen import value chains internationally.
Despite Belgium’s limited renewable energy production potential, a number of pioneering domestic clean hydrogen production projects are being developed.
Belgium hosts many world-leading technology champions, in the field of hydrogen: production equipment, hydrogen combustion engines, high pressure storage, pipeline, transport and mobility applications such as fuel cell buses and hydrogen trucks.

ABOUT THE BELGIAN HYDROGEN COUNCIL
Established in 2023 by WaterstofNet and Cluster Tweed, the Belgian Hydrogen Council brings together the hydrogen ecosystems of Flanders and Wallonia. It aims to promote the Belgian hydrogen industry internationally, represent the sector with one voice, advise policymakers, and strengthen cross-regional collaboration to accelerate the hydrogen economy in Belgium.
