MED-GEM Network • Funded by the European UnionEuropean Project PavilionThe MED•GEM Network | Connecting Europe and the Southern Mediterranean through clean energy The MED-GEM Network (Mediterranean Green Electrons & Molecules Network) is a regional project funded by the European Union and implemented by GIZ International Services, supporting the clean energy transition across the Southern Mediterranean. The Network covers Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia, connecting public institutions, businesses, investors, research organisations and civil society with partners across Europe. Our mission is to help partner countries strengthen the policy, regulatory, financial and industrial conditions needed to develop renewable electricity, renewable hydrogen and other green molecules. We promote cooperation that supports domestic decarbonisation, local industrial development, skills and employment, alongside sustainable energy trade and investment. What we do Policy and regulation: support dialogue and reforms that enable renewable energy and green molecules development. Industry and investment: identify market barriers, connect project promoters with technology providers, buyers and investors, and strengthen project readiness. Infrastructure: facilitate exchanges on the production, transport, storage and trade infrastructure needed for regional energy value chains. Finance: assess financing mechanisms and improve access to expertise for pilot, demonstration and commercial projects. Skills and awareness: deliver training, workshops and knowledge exchange, while engaging young people and wider audiences in the opportunities of the energy transition. Contributing to T-MED MED-GEM contributes to regional coordination around the Trans-Mediterranean Renewable Energy and Clean-Tech Cooperation Initiative (T-MED), a flagship initiative under the Pact for the Mediterranean. Working alongside other Mediterranean energy platforms, the Network brings expertise in green molecules, industry, skills and investment readiness to help translate regional cooperation into practical opportunities. Through its Industry Advisory Board, B2B matchmaking, EDU-HUB, Green Hydrogen Camps and CBAM technical helpdesk, MED-GEM helps connect policy dialogue with business needs and project development, supporting shared value creation and energy resilience on both shores.
