Fortescue is an integrated green technology, energy and metals company. Founded in West Australia in 2003, Fortescue is one of the world’s lowest cost iron ore producers, shipping at an annual rate of over 190 million tonnes. Today, it has become a global business, with industry-leading development of infrastructure, mining assets and green energy initiatives.
Key to this transition is Fortescue’s industry leading target to achieve real zero for Scope 1 and 2 terrestrial emissions across our iron ore operations by 2030 and net zero Scope 3 emissions by 2040. For this size and scale, there is no other heavy industry company in the world that is taking equal action to eliminate emissions.
In Europe, Fortescue’s current main focus is the plans to establish 300MW facilities for the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia at Holmaneset in Bremanger in the Vestland region of Norway.
